Hi all, I am based in London, UK and going to be starting a MS in A.I. in September at a one of UCL/Imperial/Cambridge. I have several previous IB internships but was hoping to use this MS to pivot into a career as a quant. My background: - Not a IMO or anything but have a strong STEM degree from a tier 1 UK school and excellent grades across math coursework. - Developing programming experience in Python (which I am hoping to develop more throughout my MS) Was wondering what my chances are at securing a role as a quant researcher at a fund in London? Is it impossible for non-phd's? If so what would be a realistic position I could look to? #quant #ai #machinelearning #hedgefund

Yo, if I were you, I would reapply for a masters degree in the US! UK universities are a shitshow of mediocrity (I’ve been to tier 1 UK & US) US degrees are a lot easier and expose you to better career opportunities. Not sure about access to quant researcher roles, sorry!
What US and UK programs are you comparing? Tech opportunities are obviously better in the US, but I'm surprised that tier 1 universities in the U.K. would be more difficult in the same subject.
Issue with a MS degree in the US is that they are far more expensive and then the visa issues and getting a job post completion of MS. Any experience deal with with the latter particularly?
