Masters during full-time

At a company that offers to pay for 1 course per quarter towards a grad degree. Wanted to see what people think of doing a masters during full time, specifically for a new grad who just started. Should I wait a couple of months before pursuing this so it doesn't look like I'm distracted from my job? TC: 230K

I'm at the tail end of mine and so tired. Don't get me wrong, I don't regret it for a second. But this on top of working tech has been a lot. Even with my 110% effort in both, there's definitely been times when the day job has suffered due to school. Settle in for a little bit. There's not really a reason to rush. Plenty of people in my program are over midway through their career, and you can always go back. I chose to do mine because I wanted to go all in on specializing.

Did you specialize in the subfield you were working in? I'm thinking of doing more of a tangential degree (applied math/operations research) but I'm doing more ML at work.

Yes. I made a team change mid-degree to by chosen subfield. Coming out of the program I have several options as to where I can take my career, which is nice.

Depends what you want. I did it but I don't think it was worth my time and effort. I stayed with a company for years cuz they were paying for 50% of my grad degree. I think should of left the company earlier, and went to grad school full time to be fully immersed. It's all about the network you build in grad school (I'm in consulting) and going part time, doesn't really allow time for that.

Did you do an MBA or something? I've heard those are definitely tougher to do part time because of the social aspect.

I did a master's in economics. I work in data analytics and ai consulting.... So on paper it looks like it fits... But in reality everything I know/that I apply to job I taught myself after getting the master's tbh. I study and paid attention enough just to barely pass the classes, and I didn't have fun at all. Barely absorb much, It was just a piece of paper for me. It would be been more worth the time if I did full time at a better school, fully focused and immersed and had a better network/alumni connection. But that's just my experience.

I did masters and i feel like it actually didn't benefit me at all. I could have put those hours at work and got promoted instead
