Masters in CS for non CS major

Hi I'm asking for my brother. He has an undergrad business degree and is thinking to go back to school for a tech degree while working full time. What are the school options for him? Is there an online CS masters program that admits non CS majors? Or should he apply for a second undergraduate degree? If so do you know of any online program? I can't give him advice because Im not working in tech so I'd really appreciate the knowledge. Thank you!

Post-bacc, or bootcamp or both. MS simply not necessary and will likely require at least the post-bacc anyways so that he has the pre-requisites required.

Many schools have masters and PhD programs in Computer Science. If he applies, he will get rejected by some and accepted by some. But just like applying to undergrad, it’s partly how “good” your application is and partly luck. I’m sure some schools are more accepting than others

If you apply to a master’s directly, most schools require you to take the core undergrad cs requirements (around 30+ hours) or demonstrate sufficient knowledge (if you already have experience). By then, if you take 25 more hours, you can just get a bachelors which is all you need. That’s what I did, and got a job lined up at a fang. I feel like bootcamps are past their prime. Wouldn’t recommend the masters. You can find YouTube videos that talk about bootcamps vs degree vs self teach.

Thank you. What school did you go to and what program?

State school you never heard of. Typical bachelor’s in computer science. It is my second bachelors.

I know some on-campus programs for non-CS background. Like UPenn MCIT, NEU Align, USC CS37, UChicago MPCS, Columbia CS Align(newly opened this year).
