#Amazon salary structure

Dec 26, 2019 15 Comments

In Microsoft you get Base + 20-30 % Cash + RSUs or may be special stocks once in a while.

Does Amazon has cash bonus or it's all RSUs ? And how about merit increase that may not be possible as there's a cap in base salary.

There’s no concept of cash bonus at Amazon after you’re in. Sign on bonus is the only “bonus” we give out.

For rewarding employees, we try to “Insist on the highest standards” by making the employees feel like they have “Ownership” in the company by giving them RSUs instead. If you are “Delivering Results” and “Raising the Bar”, you are given RSUs that vest 2 years into the future. This allows the employees to “Think Big” to allow for long term thinking rather than short term results.

You can “Disagree and commit” but the HR will simply “Invent and Simplify” your role. You’ll be shown the door, since they are “right, a lot”. The advice given in Amazon forum is to “Learn and Be Curious” about LC problems and show “Bias for Action” for interviewing outside. The other companies also need to “Hire and develop the best”, so why should the Amazon employees not “Earn [their] trust”?

I suggest you “Dive deep” into the Blind search. You’ll have all your answers. Don’t forget, we are “Frugal”, we won’t pay you a dime extra unless we have to ;)

P.S: Tag Amazon so you show “Customer Obsession”

Lol, but for everyone who doesn't know, your first and second year are base+sign on, with RSU vesting schedule as {5%,15%,40%,40%} over the first 4 years to make up for when the bonus runs out.

You get perf bonuses it you're good and not at the top of the TC band.
