I am a software engineer working in a top hft firm with 3+ years of work experience, I am planning to do an MBA from one of the top b-schools in the US. Is it worth the financial risk considering I will have to take a loan for the entire thing.
Agree with above comment, what is your end goal? If you are not sure, why don’t you go part time? There are great programs at Stern and other places in NYC. This way you’ll likely be able to cover tuition from your annual bonus.
I don't think I will be able to find time to do a part-time mba considering the amount of work
That’s fair...although you might want to ask your manager to see if there are options (once you decide to do it for sure). You’ll have nothing to lose at that point, if you plan on quitting anyway.
Which school? I did my mba 2 years ago, best decision ever. I highly recommend
Why was it the best decision ever?
For me open up a new world of business. I really enjoyed learning about case studies and how management work, business being operated. It helped me to experience my knowledge and thinking. I really enjoyed to learn about non-it things
Someone else posted this before, good read. https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbestechcouncil/2018/05/29/do-i-need-an-mba-to-be-a-product-manager-in-tech/
TC? MBAs don't do anything in trading, much less tech. What's your goal?
I am not a trader here, I am a software dev. Honestly I am bit bored of software development and I think it would be nice to be around humans then computer systems. Though it does not lead to an MBA. But I have had some interest around strategy development so I thought if this would be the next best thing to do.
It doesn't matter if you're a trader. An MBA doesn't do anything for readers, quants, or engineers.
IITian by any chance?

Top B-Schools publish graduating salary data. If that’s why you’re going, I suspect you’ll find a quick answer.

Job market is horrible.
Hft and MBA don't go that well together. What's your goal?
Why is that so?
Not unless you want to be become a Portfolio manager or something and you are way behind those that started on that route after undergrad
