Mckinsey Research to Consulting (BO to FO)?

Got an offer from Mckinsey Research division, but wanna go to Consulting division, is that hard? Is it worth it to work as an RA just for "Mckinsey" on my CV ?

Near impossible. Theres not much movement between BO and FO. Really only way to be a consultant (generalist) is out of undergrad or mba recruiting

No I would definitely not go down that route. Apply to other consulting firms as a strategy consultant

The siren call of prestige but potentially in the wrong position... personally I think if you want a career in strategy consulting, you would be better off at a Big 4 consulting program, particularly Deloitte or Strategy&, than in McKinsey research. That being said, if you have applied and exhausted all of your options then congratulations and you will just have to hit the grindstone.

The wall between FO and BO in consulting is much harder than that in S&T. Mckinsey Research only give impression to somewho do not know how consulting companies work

RA and RA are also different, If your offer is in an industry group instead of knowledge center, which is client facing role, could be worth it. BA need abt a yr to learn the knowledge in different industry, but for RA in industry group, you could be the expert in some specific industry. RA is not well know is because there barely hire new grad
