Meal Delivery Logistics
The time estimates for DoorDash are sometimes wildly inaccurate for me, with a 30 minute delivery estimate occasionally ballooning up to 2 hours. Is this just due to the complexity of meal delivery app logistics? Do other apps like Uber Eats do a better job with time estimates?

I've delivered for Doordash. I think it's inherent to the model Problems stem from: -restuarants not being reliable in prep speed -drivers must make multiple deliveries and restaurant stops interleaved in one route, which additionally compounds the above problem -drivers are on their own with parking, which means some drivers park far away as necessary to get to a restaurant.
Every time I ordered DoorDash, It was over 40+ mins with lukewarm food. Not to mention paying 30 for 20 dollars worth of food ( add service fees and delivery and tip). I have given up after 4-5 attempts. I prefer driving and picking myself no matter how tired I am.
Really cold tacos did it for me with favor. That's just one food you need warm at least.
Are you in an area where Amazon Prime restaurants deliver? Better deal money wise.
Uber Eats delivery times are very consistent with the estimation and faster delivery than DoorDash. However the delivery fee is bit higher than DoorDash.

Your Doordash courier places an order after reaching the restaurant. Uber places the order the moment you order. And by the time courier reaches there food us ready. So UberEats courier time is about a round trip of time.
There are so many variables that have to be predicted at each step. Traffic, parking times, courier availability and proximity, prep times for specific items, order size, in-restaurant demand, impact of weather, etc. It should be fairly accurate, but a large spike in any variable could mess up the estimate.
Why donāt you try it yourself and create a medium page with your findings?
