Been in conversations about a role at Tesla.
So burned out in my current role. Feel like I’m just working on technology that contributes nothing of substance to the world. Enticed by the dream of working on a mission of real meaning and saving the planet.
But is Tesla really that way? Is the sense of mission and feeing like you’re doing important work real? For folks at Tesla, do you really feel it in your day to day and experience it driving the decisions that affect your day to day and overall direction of your work?

It’s a typical corporation, don’t put it on a pedestal.
Now, the cars are admittedly pretty cool tech wise, and there could be other reasons why the move makes sense: new challenges, new opportunities, etc. Just saying saving the planet isn’t it.
The majority of carbon emission are from companies
Is it stressful? Yes. But if you’re a decent performer, you have job security. There’s FUD about Tesla layoffs, but the truth is that those impacted are not in engineering/high profile groups, or they’re very very poor performers.
I know many poor performers that are still in the company 4 years later.
i dont think you should take advice from snap. obviously any companies goal is to sell their product. that doesnt mean its a company with ill intent. tesla has a large solar/battery fleet
most people ive interacted with here do share the mission of accelerating the worlds transition to sustainable energy. tc is garbo tho
