Mechanical Engineering career growth in consumer electronics

Hello all, I am a mechanical engineer looking for thermal/design engineer roles in consumer electronics. I have more than 4 years of professional and research in design and simulations (mostly CFD and some FEA). I am concerned about the future career growth of mechanical engineers in such roles as it is heavily skewed towards software and electronics engineering. Can anyone working in such fields share their experience? Thanks for your help!

Consumer electronics companies need a lot of people in mechanical engineering fields (especially Apple, which is very hardware/product focused). Consumer electronics will typically pay ME's significantly more than the majority of other industries, but typically require them to move to the bay area (which is incredibly expensive) and work long hours.

@bc89 Thanks for the reply! I am trying to migrate to the bay area as my girlfriend is working there. I don't mind working long works until the work is challenging enough. However, I am sure about the future growth of mechanical engineers in consumer electronics. Do you have any insight about the same? If you don't mind, can you tell me if you are working as a mechanical engineer at Google? Thanks, again!
