To those of you working in mechanical engineering-related roles within the tech industry, could you tell me about your general experience? WLB, Role, TC, etc? Additionally, any advice on how to get my foot in the door would be very helpful! I’m going to be graduating a year from now with my bachelors and would like to pursue a career in tech

Working on role related to manufacturing

    Wlb - pretty good
    TC - 150k

To get your foot into the door, work on some cool projects where you can demonstrate technical aptitude and appetite to learn.

    Anecdotal..

    Wlb - piss poor
    Role - mechanical eng
    Tc - 250k 4yoe Bay Area

I tend to chase tc at expense of wlb. I’m sure there’s a spectrum out there. To get your foot in the door, get good at interviewing. Make sure you know your fundamentals and communicate well. Was a numbers game for me, just applied to a lot of companies until I got an interview
