I interviewed at meta for E6 loop but due to meh performance in the design rounds, they want to bring me in as a 5 instead.
I am currently a 6 at a well established new tech company, so I'm torn if I should jump over into the metaverse or not.
Current TC 530k
Offer
~500k
It looks like tc wise it's close to a wash, and the stuff meta is working on sounds more interesting than what I am currently doing. The hiring manager has promised to put me on a fast track to 6.
Would you take it? Is it reasonable to expect to be promoted within 1-2 years of joining if performance is good? Is fast track to 6 even a thing or just something they say to get you in first?
Appreciate any feedbacks.

E6 promo needs org level alignment.
One year is not possible unless you do god level stuff, given your down level not gonna happen. You have a chance if you were interviewed for 5 but was offered 6.
Fast track means they expect you to do double the work. Essentially they will give you opportunity to do the above.
What is the breakdown?
Also, our refreshers are really good. 175k this year for E5 (135k last few years)
Honestly starting as E5 would be better than starting as E6 since E6 would be overwhelming coming in from external
When I joined I was downlevelled to E4 but told I was on the "fast track" to E5, and I'm still at E4 almost two years later despite hitting the goals on the promo plan I work out with my manager every half.
