Just finished Meta virtual onsite for E4 in Menlo Park today. Did 4 rounds and below are the details. 1. Behav: usual stuff, the questions only lasted 30 minutes. but we had a really good conversation till reaches 45-minute mark. (self-evaluation: hire) 2. System Design: imho the question (system) was easy. Talked a lot on the scaling, but the interviewer kept going back to the specific API flow and report, etc. Ran out of time on this round, but answered all the questions. (self-evaluation: lean hire, only because I was going back to the scaling portion instead of finishing all the API flow, but was able to go thru the important few flows) 3. Coding 1: asked 2 LC medium questions which I nailed both of them. (self-evaluation: hire.) 4. Coding 2: asked 2 LC medium questions. wasted lot of time on the first problem but solved it with O(N) time complexity. Started working on the second problem which was DFS problem and never seen it before, struggled in the beginning and finally come up with the brute force solution and while coding it, we ran out of time. (self-evaluation: lean hire) Hopefully I can get an offer $$$ and leave this 🥜 life behind. current TC: 160k (east coast), 3.5 YOE #software #swe #engineering #meta #microsoft
Your coding 2 sounds very similar to what I experienced. It was a no hire for me based on the recruiter pep talk for when I tried for meta the second time. Seems like these people are expecting optimal solutions even if you haven't seen the problem before.
this is my first try at Meta guess gotta join OCI then, but let me see the result in few days
Perhaps, but you are right you should wait it out, you never know!
Your experience sounds like mine. It is. I hire for me
thanks for sharing. I was kinda worried. where are you joining?
There is a typo. It is no hire for me
Good luck op. Sounds like a solid loop but heavily dependent on interviewer luck and mood
hey thanks G! yeah that's true just waiting for the result from the recruiter hope it is good news.
I've gone through a lot of posts on blind and your case seems like it could really go any way. I would expect a follow up coding round if your other rounds went well. They have invested quite a bit into getting you this far so they will try their best to gather signals rather than failing you outright.
I asked from my friend who recently joined meta and he told me it sounds okay. but who knows hmm, haven't heard anything yet. Maybe I will just accept OCI offer and suck it for the next year till my google grace period ends.
Any update OP?
no hire unfortunately
OP, any update?
no hire unfortunately
Sorry to hear that OP. Next time then. Looks like Brute force is an absolute no no
Sorry to hear OP. Welcome to OCI btw :)
