Got an offer from BCG as a lead knowledge analyst . Current TC - $170k BCG TC - $140k It’s going backwards and I am inclined to reject it(negotiated from $110k and this is their max ) . However wanted to get some feedback from blinders How is the growth prospects at consulting companies ? Where I am at , it’s pretty stagnant, hardly any growth (both from tech perspective and salary YOE -7
Do you see yourself staying in consulting? If not BCG means nothing and like rent your salary should always go up.
It’s the great resignation because everyone is making more by moving jobs, don’t be the guy taking an L at this time
Never ever join for lower than what you're making now unless you really really hate your current job. At the very least, ask them to match your current TC
They won’t budge- they tried selling me about high growth potential at BCG .
This is not a consulting role. No path to MD/Partner. Wouldn’t take it.
What is your role as a lead knowledge analyst? Growth and bonuses can be huge, butttt only if you're billable. It'd be a hard pass for me unless if was in the consulting division. My buddy at BCG is making 130k fresh out of school doing business consulting, and he should hit ~250 within 2 years. Given your YOE, im guessing you don't fall into the billable category
Don’t don’t it OP you’ll be on a support team and support teams don’t have the same trajectory as consultants do. Unless you plan on being there for a year and leveraging the name to go else where after
This is not a consulting role. This is internal role supporting the consultants and hence pay will not appreciate much after you join... Just the regular 1-2% annual increases, no stock options or 401k match.
Do your study and preparations and join product company. BCG will not share success with you. No stocks, no ipo. Also a LOT of travel there
That’s one of the biggest con that I looked . However don’t they do some profit sharing at higher level ?
I mean there is year-end profit sharing and big annual bonuses lol.
