Hired by MSFT for a Program Manager role as a university hire. No product experience but has around 4 YOE as a developer and Analyst with a Master's degree.
You can negotiate. But most roles have a level set way before the job is ever listed and you’re not getting a higher level than it was listed for. So just depends on if they left you were worth the highest offer to begin with or if you have room and are able to convince them. Base has some flexibility, stock has the most. I’m a PM and my role is 61-65 range. Note that PM is in different orgs. Engineering and Product is going to be higher than Sales and Services but require more experience.
Thank you for responding! How will I know about my org?
This won't apply for a new grad, but once you are senior they can rescope a posted role and change the level if they like you enough. I've had this done at FB and MSFT.
Whats the breakdown? Is it for Seattle
It is for Seattle. I'm not sure of the break down yet. I'm yet to receive my offer letter. Just wanted to know everything beforehand prior to accepting my offer.
How was the interview?
I was offered a base pay of 109k , sign on bonus 25k and stocks worth 70k. I couldn't find the information on the level I belong to. Which is the best figure to negotiate my salary with?
I have an MBA friend who got 110k, 30k sign on, and 125k rsu over 3 years.
I managed to negotiate on the stocks to 120k

What level and team? Note that there is likely more negotiation room on stock.
It's a university hire position so I'm guessing it's 59. I'm yet to receive my offer letter. It's for Xbox team
Hmm. I’d negotiate for more stock. If you are a rockstar you’ll make 60 fast. You could negotiate for 60 but not 61. RSUs are your best bet to increase your TC. That and sign on bonus.
