Hi folks, Three years ago I gave up on a contract signed with Microsoft on another country, few days before starting there. I'm applying for roles in Microsoft here in US but am not hearing back from them. Do they have some kind of blacklist I can be listed in? Thanks
What role u are looking for and what level.. dm me
Senior SE...
The blacklist is only applied if you did some sort of policy violation that the manager checks a box for no rehire.
There are ways to be not eligible for hire but generally it involves leaving in bad standing. Never heard of it being a result of not taking an offer even late in the game but maybe. More like just bad luck I think there is like 1k apps for every position posted. Lot better if you have a in.
I applied for at least 12 SSE positions on the MS site in the past 6 months. I was contacted only once. 20+ yoe, 15 of it in the Microsoft stack (.NET, SQL Server), with most recent 2 years at Amazon (Java etc). If anything, the application ends up “In process”, and I’ll withdraw it after a month. Otherwise they will sit as “new”, and I’ll also withdraw after a month. I had a few quickly end up in “not selected”.
So it appears they have a process problem instead of a blacklist... 🙂
That is my conclusion. They obviously get their hiring needs met. Based on my experience with big tech companies, I’d guess the trend is to heavily recruit younger workers (“freshers”?) and promote/transfer internally to senior roles. Of course they still hire experienced people (“industry hires”), but selectively. Why Amazon hired me with 20 yoe I’ll never know, but my failure after 2 years proved it was a mistake.
The best way is to get hiring manager's attention via referral /linkedIn.
I've done that, but didn't work. That's pretty weird. My profile is good and I usually get attention easily. That's the reason I started suspecting I'm blacklisted...
