Recruiter informed me they would be giving me an offer for SDE role. Haven't had a chat with hiring manager yet. Can anyone give some insights into the Core Services Engineering division? How does it compare to azure and what are the future prospects? My background is in distributed systems and backend engineering.
Is this for Azure?
Wait a minute. You have already interviewed and you don't know what the team is doing?
I have some idea of what the team is doing. Some projects sounded interesting. Wanted to hear from MS folks about CS division.
That’s a fancy name for MSIT.
MSIT would be a step down from Oracle
MSIT is seen as lower caste compared to PG in MS. It will be hard to move to a PG later internally.
Please don’t accept the offer. CSE is the worst organization in Microsoft. It’s IT where you build websites for internal Microsoft employees. Most under-performers at Microsoft are moved to CSE.
Thanks. Will pass on this one.
Curious, what was the offer they gave you?? I'm also in the interview loop for this team...
CSE is MSIT where you would have msft internal view vs Azure which is product group where you will have external view
MSIT is also shit tier whereas Azure has a pretty good reputation.
9hfqx5 is right. MSIT devs used to be paid way way less than other devs even. You could be a dev below 59. New grads saw 80k starting Pay not 107k. They’ve since rebranded as cse to get away from the stigma of msit (our it division) and they’ve gotten compensation to parity-ish but this is really a tier below Azure
