In Window's org and MCIO?...Most impacted - Service engineers, Program managers. Partners and Principals. Now Cloud group has lots of trash added with recent reorg. from OSG. OSG devs are of very low standard compared to Azure devs. They won't stand a chance. Heard from a Partner group manager that lists are being prepared. Watch out.
Trivial
Big, if true
Azure devs high standards what a joke ๐๐๐
Do people with recent promotions and good connect feedback also need to be worried?
Thatโs how layoffs work.
Sorry, i am new to how layoffs work. Even though you are a rock star in your team it doesnt matter?
Should new grad hires starting this summer at Windows be worried too?
+1
No. Absolutely not. New Grads are gold. You'll be treated well and put in a good place within Microsoft. Of the new hires during the last big layoff, none we're let go.
Also your post suggests PMs, service engineers, devs, principal, partner. Essentially saying everyone at L68 or below at wdg need to be worried ๐ฏ
Nobody is safe!!
How can Employees build great products or try to contribute to the firm if theyโre constantly worried about saving their hide?
Please understand that layoffs are not necessarily based on performance. I am aware of people who got 2 promotions in 10 months did get lay off last year. It's about eliminating the positions. Irrespective of your performance . If management sees that specific group or team is redundant or shrinking budget, hard decisions are being made.
Finally - thank you , I wanted to get rid of low performers
Eng quality is lowest among big companies but Iโd say the biggest pain is the amount of political animals of leads, managers who know nothing technical.
