What should be my expectations from a Microsoft IDC offer. I interviewed with Microsoft Azure team. I have 4.6 years of experience and I am an SDE II in my current company. My current package is 31 LPA: 24.5 base + 4 bonus + 2.5 profit sharing. I am working at a startup so the shares are just paper money. 1. Which level should I expect L61/L62 for SDE II at Microsoft ? 2. What base should I aim at while negotiating ? I am hoping for a 30-40% hike during my switch ! Is 30 LPA base an over expectation ? 3. I have seen varied stock offerings on the internet ranging from 30K USD to 100K USD. How much stocks should I expect ?
I had 32 base, 1 bonus, 0 stocks, 5 yoe. Got through L62 loop with 31-2 base, 3+3 JB, 40k $ stocks which puts my TC at around 47
Do they have a min YOE requirement to offer L62 ? My friend at MS told me that they usually offer L61 for external hires, but I am guessing it should depend on your YOE too ! Also where was your previous experience and did that influence the offer in any way ? I am working at a start up, so I am hoping that they don’t low ball me on stock grants !
Sure enough YOE matters. But then a college hire generally takes 5 years to hit L62 and its just reasonable for a Msft to believe that an industry hire with 4-5 yoe should be taken at L61 until proven otherwise in interview loops. In my case 2 yoe of my experience was very relevant to HM’s charter and I did good enough in the loops to be offered L62 in their initial offer itself.
