A recruiter messaged me on LinkedIn to apply for Microsoft, so I did. Got a phone interview 2 days later and said they’ll keep in touch with me with an email for an onsite interview. Fast-forward about a month, still no response. I messaged the guy on LinkedIn again and he says they do not have the capacity as of right now... what should I be expecting? probably a no huh?
Did you talk TC? That’s been the #1 blocker for me
I didn’t even get an offer nor did we talk about offers yet
Not offer, the comp range. Did they ask how much you make? I dont bother with 2nd round if they’re not going to share numbers. It’s a huge waste of time!
Same with the new grad. I passed their on campus interview for my school which they scheduled. And then told me that it is too late, they are mostly done I might not get invited to onsite. The stupid part is again, they scheduled the on campus for my school. I had no chance from the beginning.
Right??? I’m okay with a rejection so that I can know that I didn’t make it at least and I have a lot to improve.
This is a “no”. Whats probably happening here especially at junior levels is that growing teams are asking for recruiting to constantly prospect. They then either match and forward highest quality candidates to immediately open roles or they try to “keep them warm” in the expectation that a possible match to a req comes soon. The indicator that they don’t have capacity means they either lost the internship role, decided they don’t have the time for it, or it was part of a prospecting cycle that didn’t have an immediate role behind it. Whatever the reason, treat this as a long shot play and put time into finding a role for your needs and timeline. If you find something on the Microsoft career center, great. If another company has an internship match that meets your needs, do what you need to do.
Not necessarily this means No. One possibility the position was closed. You will need to wait for another one to open. Or there was or will be reorg in that org. You never know.
