Do senior finance managers receive annual stock grants? Just got an offer from Microsoft but was told only directors are eligible for annual grants which I find very hard to believe. Also, is a 145k base, 15% cash bonus target, and 75k stock over four years upfront reasonable for a L63? #corpfinance #finance #microsoft Update: Verbally offered at L63. 145k base, 15% cash bonus, 22k annual performance based stock award, 10k cash sign on year 1 and year 2, 75k upfront stock vesting over 5 years, just to get pulled last second due to "change of internal business needs". Anyone in finance in one of the big techs hiring? Holler at your boy here.
You get an annual stock grant of 22K (in the US) for L63 if you meet expectations (target), vesting 5% a quarter over 5 years. The range is 0-44k. 145k base is below the range midpoint, which is $155K. If you feel well qualified/experienced for the role shoot for $155K-$160k. I would push for more stock, but not sure what the standard offers are these days.
I was offered at L62, but made a case for L63 which the recruiter is looking to seek approval for. If I am honest to myself, I am probably barely L63, so not sure how much I can push for base and stock, especially when the initial offer was already much lower at L62. But thanks for the info on stock grants (which looks to be a performance based equity bonus). Confuses me as to why recruiter claims only directors are eligible.
Got it. No idea what the recruiter is talking about. FYI For L62: Annual stock award is 0-32k, with a target (and most likely outcome) of 16K. The annual cash bonus range is 0-20%, with a 10% target.
What’s your YOE? Is 62 and 63 Sr finance manager?
Too low! This comp is close to analyst role
In what company? Not at Microsoft
That’s below what a SFA (L5) can get at Google as a FYI if you ever have that on the table.
I just got L61 offered (FM): 125K Base 20k signing 30k RSU vest over 4yr 0-20% cash bonus on performance but a most people told me 10% is what they get 12k RSU refresher every year 5% vest/qtr (5yr) I have 2.5YOE w/ Masters (non MBA) Role is in Redmond. Another team offered Dallas for $115k base all else same. But I wanted to work in the team I'm in now.
That looks about right for l63 finance
Low
That’s about right for a 63 in finance which has different mid point for salary ranges on the same level as Eng roles. You are eligible for stock awards but much lower than sign on. Target would be 22k plus cash bonus. Base is harder to move on. Have you asked for sign on cash bonus?
I haven't pushed much else other than making a case for L63 vs the original offer at L62. Will see if that even gets approved first and then I can think about pushing on others. Although, currently offered 10k cash sign on for each of the first two years.
So it’s 145/75/20 for sign on? Is this a bump from where you are now or do you have competing offers?
Wow Microsoft pays peanuts
Comparable to L6.5 no?
That sounds low for a senior finance manager. That’s what I would expect without the senior title. Is this LCOL?
I think MSFT's comp is known to be generally lower than other tech giants. Leveling could be a little off as well. For example, Senior Manager comp at MSFT is somewhat comparable to a Senior Analyst comp at AMZN if my understanding is correct.
@unity whats your frame if reference for thinking the offer is low? There is title inflation in msft sr manager usually doesnt manage people
