In the industry for almost a year, but I code every single day and my skill set is even better than Specialist at my company (based on them coming to me and asking me questions about the technology and also being able to get things done faster and better than them). Was given the opportunity to manage a team of 10 to build a project from scratch and product is starting to sell. (Apologize if it seems like Iām bragging, just wanted to layout a clear picture on what Iām trying to achieve and wanted to get opinion on it) Oh, and I do Product, UX, UI, Front end and back end development on the side. (I donāt even know if this is relevant anymore, just wanted to put it out to see if you guys think that these might be a good sell for getting a higher level with not as much experience) Am currently offered level 60 at Microsoft with potential Base: 110k Equity: 9k stock max and 20% cash max Sign on: not discussed yet Relocation: 13k Will be talking to manager next week to learn about the position. I want to negotiate to get lv61 position ( been told that it might be impossible, but I believe in hope). And use that position level to get a better TC. Other than that, am still interviewing with Google and Bloomberg. So am asking for at least a months extension, but recruiter kept mentioning it will be hard. Opinions?
In Redmond? 9k is one year or four? My new grad offer from Amazon 4 years ago was slightly higher I think this is a pretty weak new grad offer.
I think one year. Yeah it feels pretty low too. Levelsfyi have people starting at 200k at that level but thatās on the high end and I bet they have some good Neto skills
If you are not sure, it's probably over 4 years. Been there done that
9K sounds like the standard stock refresher, it's incredibly low
My guess is that you either forgot to include your on-hire RSU grant or you were not offered one
1 year of experience is not especially meaningful to a company from a comp perspective. Undergrads are hired at L59 so they are basically just giving you as if you got promoted in year one. Your base seems low if youāre in eng, but your experience isnāt comparable to L61 unless itās a big outlier for the hiring manager.
I have two year of internship + 1.5 years of industry experience all from tech giant, and was offered level 60, honestly speaking you can't learn much with 1 year of industry experience hence level 60 no matter how good you think u are, especially with all the multitasking, u can not master all of them. Plus every engineer write code everyday so it doesn't really mean u are better than others engineer, and getting things done faster and better doesn't mean much, unless ur company has very high standard code reviewing practice, else ur code is just garbage, speaking from true experience. U might be good at ur company but garabage at another.
60 is generally for fresh Masters graduates, which probably makes sense for you given your less than 1 year experience
Almost a year though ;) by the time I start it would be a year
New grad TC in MS should ab around 150k
