Hi everyone, I recently got a new grad offer from MS and I wanted to get some thoughts. Base: 112.5k Sign on: 20k On hire stock: 70k bonus range: 0-20% Any comments or issues? Edit: L59 SWE, Redmond
What is the title and location?
Base and sign on both are low. Keep negotiating
You can negotiate higher, that’s the lowest offer they give for new grad
Target bonus seems wrong for new grad. L59 range is usually 0-20% with target being 10%. What location?
I think I understood incorrectly. The range is 0-20%
As others have said, this is basically the lowest they give for L59. So you can get more but only with competing offers probably. Otherwise you don’t have any leverage.
A little low, especially the level.
Why is it so low, are you not from target school? For Redmond that is really bad, never seen such a low Msft offer
Not sure why it’s so low. Not from a target school necessarily, but top 15 for CS.
This was close to my initial offer when I first joined. You can ask for 120-140 in stock as well as up to an extra 20k to the signing bonus. I was able to get my offer in that range without any other competing offers. I just brought up that I had been interviewing with competitors.
Nice. Did you have to show your scheduled interviews? I am 90% I can get interviews within the next few weeks due to high level directors offering to refer me. I just really wanted the MS offer so I didn’t go through with them.
No, they never asked to confirm the interviews. I don't really think that's a thing. They did initially tell me that the initial offer was the best they could do, but I held out signing the offer until last minute and they eventually raised the offer to meet what I wanted. Your milage may vary though.
Is the on hire stock granted over a period of 4 years?
3.5. With the vests being at .5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 intervals
