Got offer from Microsoft, at 65 level, Principle PGM. Please help me understand how good (or bad) this offer is: base:190k bonus: 70k max location: Seattle current TC: 200k
Does MS lowball everyone these days?
Yes, I got a L64 offer after 20+ years of industry experience. Around $270K (assuming 20% bonus). DC area
Lol that's less than senior comp at other big companies. Microsoft is so cheap
MS is known for that
It’s for Seattle obviously will be differences..
Typical microsoft offer includes BASE - 190K SignOn Bonus - ?? SignOn Stock - ?? Is this 70K (4 year vest) making it $17.5K Bonus - Target 10% - 19K upto 38K (20%)
When did you interview?
Above average for sure. Base can go up but depends on your negotiating and competing offers

Do you really feel special in your Tesla?
Did you get an on hire stock bonus with your offer? That’s mainly what will determine a strong or weak offer. 190k base is around where L65 starts. As a side note: realistically your cash bonus target is 38k and you should use that number when calculating your expected offer, rather then the 76k max.
Thanks a lot! Yeah additions 70k Stocks
70k stocks per year (meaning 280k total stocks) would make for a slightly above average entry level 65 offer, 70k total would be a weaker offer. If you want to calculate msft compensation as a whole, you may want to consider other factors such as 401k match, espp, and the health plan. As with all large tech companies, you can get more stock with a competing offer from another major tech company (think FANG), if increasing your TC for your first few years at MSFT is your primary goal.
