My Background is still in progress and will be completed by first week of January and I think start date will be by end of January or first week of Feb. I will receive my Bonus and RSUs from T-Mobile by end of Feb 2020 and I don’t want to lose it and I want to have my start date to be in first week of March 2020. I am kind of reluctant to ask the hiring manager if start date in first week of March will work or not as it is away by a month and half from ideal start date and I know hiring team needs me to start as soon as possible. I don’t want to sound like I am making an unreasonable request. Should I ask the recruiter or hiring manager about the same?
Ofcourse, you have to inform the recruiter/hiring manager otherwise how would they know. You can also negotiate on the sign on bonus if they want to hire you early.
Just email them, that's what I did. But it was reverse. I asked my manager to join after 1.5 month and then after few days I emailed them to join earlier. They agreed. Always say, otherwise how would other people know what is going on.
Make sure the pay date is correct and just tell them when everything looks fine I need to give 1 month notice because of my responsibility and the projects handover.
Delay by a month or so is not a big deal usually. I would contact the HM directly and state your reason behind the request too. People understand that bonus and RSUs are a sizable chunk. A reasonable company and HM should oblige.
