I have heard that Microsoft has stopped the PERM program, how true is it? I will be joining MS as a new grad..
If it is true, they will lose a lot of employees, especially all the immigrants out there, this also gives the employees a reason to leave the company and start looking and get into FANG.
Did you check with your recruiter on this? As far as I know they limit their perm related recruitment drives to 3 to 4 times a year. You have to fill your application before the end of quarter or you will be be pushed into the next batch. Unless there is a layoff, there is no reason to not apply. Also keep your future manager in loop for these things as they play an important role in prioritizing your case.
How’s about Linkedin? Do they get affected by this?
Be careful if you're yet to join Microsoft and have an offer. Microsoft Immigration rescinds a majority of offers.
That’s interesting news. I wonder if the immigration team will be Blamed by a bunch of hiring teams, lol, for losing talents just because of their stupid policy.
Come on ! You will have 6 years (3+3) to start your PERm! If MSFT is giving a good profile why not take it ? Leave MSFT after 2-3 years then apply your PERM somewhere else ! Don’t be so obsessed with visa !
This is disturbing news. I was planning to accept and join Microsoft in July as new grad. Now thinking if I should start considering other offers.
Yep, start to interview more and use Microsoft offer as a leverage
still true?
This is true. And they cap limit how many perm to be filed in each batch only favoring whose work authorization is in danger or whose perm process has taken for long. Don’t join. This company’s green card policy is a piece of shit.
They probably had a reason for this, why should they file right away for people who will just leave after getting it?
Oh? I heard Microsoft’a green policy is one of the best. Conversely, Amazon has been very frugal about it and usually don’t do it right away.
