Currently a PM at Amazon also recent MBA and looking to apply to Microsoft for obvious reasons. Positions I am applying to are Program Manager and Business Program Manager (both non-tech) however leveling is not displayed online so I could use some help. They also have Aspire MBA program but I do have significant work experience so I don’t want to start too low of level as I already feel like I hit a wall.

Questions:

Should I apply to Sr PM roles? (2 years Amazon PM experience)

How does leveling translate from Amazon/Microsoft?

What should I expect in salary or ask for in salary?

How comparable is the work culture, is there really WLB at Microsoft?

How does one prepare for MSFT interview?

Whats their RTO policy?

Location is east coast office.

Apparently starting with an MBA gets you more than completing MBA while you’re there. Also MBA gets you L6 level but I started as L5 and graduated recently. In essence I’m not getting paid what I’m worth and won’t be as an internal because of how fucked the system is. To answer your question, it’s below standard. Standard is 150k-160k base salary in my org at least.

Gotcha, thanks for clarification. I was mistaken, I thought you meant you completed MBA and then did two years there. No advice to give, but wishing you best of luck. On the surface level from an outsider, I think you’ll do better if you jump ship ASAP

No problem, unfortunately the way most companies work is to promote upon completion of degrees or certs but from my experience if you start low at Amazon prepare to stay there a while and be overqualified. Also, I agree with your comment. Thank you !

2 YOE with MBA Non-Tech PM at Amazon makes 125K TC? Not trying to imply anything, just don’t know much about those bands. Is that standard?

Does your TC include the value of the stock grants vesting? If not, it should. If it does, then what’s your base?
