I'm joining Microsoft as a Program Manager in Seattle . It's a university hire position. I have around 3.5 years of experience as a developer and Analyst and 10 months of internship experience. I have a master's degree in MIS. I'm offered a base pay of 109k , sign on bonus 25k and stocks worth 70k. I couldn't find the information on the level I belong to. Which is the best figure to negotiate my salary with?
TC of 151 right out of university? Damn good. Daaaaamn good.
It sounds like a good 59, or low 60 level compensation.
Is it safe to ask for level 60?
Base seems like level 59, those stocks are better than most PM2 industry hires. If you got level 60, because of your masters/interview performance, ask for a better base.
How do I know about my level? It's mentioned no where in my offer letter
You can ask your recruiter.
Honestly the stock is low. You should get at least $100k in stock. Also you have a masters, you should be 60 (base pay of $120)
So can I ask them about level and salary both in the same email? I'm negotiating for the first time. I don't want to quote some thing that's way off the reasonable amount. Shall I be starting with 120k the or should be asking 125 or 130k and slowly bring it down to 120 for level 60?
For an individual getting in the industry just now, don't push it. This is a great way to gain experience. Offer is good
I think that is an exceptional salary for early career individual
So you think I can't ask for a level up or negotiate on my salary considering my profile?
That is the standard package for level 59, you can ask for 120k stock which is another standard offer for candidates who negotiate
Location? Seattle or Bay area.
