Microsoft Pay Increase

Is 1.2% merit increase normal here at MsFT? That doesn’t even cover inflation!

If you still question if it’s normal then you deserve to get it :)

Twitch 3vXfq Dec 6, 2017

Fellow Twitch guy... I didn't say Twitch gave 0.24% increase... I said Amazon gave...

Microsoft Wellborn Nov 30, 2017

What was your bonus percentage? Was it less than 80%? Even the folks who got 80% would have gotten over 2% increase. Target reward would have increase by around 3%. That has been the trend for the last few years.

Microsoft JagPag OP Nov 30, 2017

That’s what I figured. I have an incompetent manager, who is more worried about his rewards than his team.

Amazon randdude Dec 1, 2017

Soynds like your manager played wirh you. Switch team.

Microsoft frankjoyd Nov 30, 2017

I got a mid-year promotion with a 5% merit increase and another 2% at year end. You got jacked.

AT&T DDM2K Nov 30, 2017

If 1.2 is your merit increase, there’s no cost of living increase. Sounds like Windstream. You’re expected to perform above expectations for a chance at earning cost of living? Switch companies or you’re a sheep for slaughter.

Microsoft FooBar U2 Nov 30, 2017

I’ve always had merit increases over 4.2

Microsoft Ayrr11 Nov 30, 2017

Merit does not depend on inflation, but on performance

Microsoft Seances Dec 1, 2017

Microsoft yMcg47 Dec 1, 2017

I look at “raises” tied to “inflation” and “COLA” as a dated way to view. Most people on this thread don’t work union jobs. If you want a 3.4% raise per year you can count on, go work at a factory. This is at-will employment.

AT&T DDM2K Dec 1, 2017

+1 to this. Union worker here. Not factory, but datacenter. “IDC Technical Specialist” was recently swept into the same category as bargained lineman and service techs. We get 2-3% a year, outlined in the union contract, which gets renewed every 3 years for our BU. You have a pay scale. Top pay is reached at the end of 5 years, or sooner, if you have prior experience. Once you hit top, the only increases you get are the contractual ones. One thing I do like is you can see what your health insurance premiums will be over the next 3 years, no nasty surprise each year. Word has it that the bonuses used to be good - a set percentage of your salary - but now it’s tied to stock price change over the year and is effectively a percent of a percent of a percent. Ours has ranged from $300-$1500. It could be higher, but AT&T likes to crash their stock price at the end of each fiscal year to minimize payouts for these sort of things. Just check out what happens around October each year in T stock. If there is a gain when comparing Oct 1 2016 price to Sept 30 2017, there’s a bonus. If not, then there’s not.

I got mid year promo for 5% merit with 6%
