I had applied for Product Manager position at Microsoft for Azure team. I went through hiring event and today I got an email for being selected for program manager position. Question I have is how does Program Manager and Product management position differ at Microsoft? I do not see the role being for Technical Program Management. Is that something I need to be worried about being in visa. What is the expected pay range for this position in BayArea. I also have an offer with Amazon for Technical Product Manager. Which one should I choose. #productmanagermicrosoft #tpm #product #microsoft #amazon Current TC : $240k Yoe : 5/13 Yet to get offer from Microsoft. Amazon offer $370k (L6)
Btw, How long did Microsoft take to get back after the final interview?
Include compensation offers
There is no easy answer here. For historical reason PM largely means program manager at MSFT, but that title doesn’t mean much. Generally there is a push towards product manager. But it’s team dependent. Do ask your interviewers this question. It’s a completely valid one.
In my team it’s basically product manager and our team address each other as product manager and not program manager
What is the actual title at MS? If it is not a senior, your TC will be lower than your amazon offer
Which team in Azure is this?
How to know about these msft hiring events?
Title doesn't mean anything at MS. It depends on your org.
