Microsoft University Phone Interview

Hello All, I'm a PhD student and I have an interview with Microsoft with the University Recruiting Team. The interview is scheduled for 30 minutes, they mentioned that questions will include coding and problem solving, and to have a phone that has connectivity. So I have a couple of questions: 1. Since no laptop is mentioned and the interview is with a Recruiting team member its safe to assume I will not be doing actual coding? 2. What type of coding and problem sovling questions will be asked by the recruiter over the phone? 3. What type of behavioral questions should expect? 4. Any other tips or things I should focus on ?

1. Yes you are correct, no coding involved. 2. The only technical questions I got asked were “difference between C++ and Java (as a follow up to what’s your 2 best languages) and “Describe recursion if you had to explain it to a child”. 3. Very generic. “Why do you want to work for M”, “Tell me about a difficult technical challenge you faced” etc. Overall not a “hard” interview by any means. I would actually make sure you have answers to the 2 questions I put above because I know multiple people who were asked that. Edit: I had the phone interview a few days ago, but I am a undergrad new grad so I’m not sure if it’s the same as Ph.d.
