How long does it take Microsoft to transfer/extend h1b visa for new hires? From accepting offer to receiving visa approval notice, including LCA, lawyer prepare documents etc. Does Microsoft use premium processing by default or do you have to argue for it? Do they prefer/required visa to be approved before you can start or can you start with receipt? Thanks!
It took me 7-8 weeks from signing offer letter to the day i was clear to discuss start date. Long wait so keep patient.
Wow 7-8 weeks is a long time... plus another two weeks for notice to current employer that's a solid 2 months... Thanks for the info! Good to know what to expect
Im at week 6 after submitting my documents. I just heard back yesterday that they are planning to file the application today. I had to ask my recruiter to request for premium processing from the HM and it was granted.
Wow... 6 weeks... hopefully once it's submitted it will be fast since you got PP. Good luck!
OP, keep checking in otherwise they will take more than a month to just file. Ask your HM to follow up, that speeds up things
Yup will definitely do that. Thanks for the suggestion.
OP, what's your role, level and offer?
It can take anywhere between 2-4 weeks to file your transfer once you submit your documents online. In my case, it took 3 weeks. It was filed on Tuesday, so I am still waiting for my receipt number. I had to get an approval from my hiring manager to do premium processing. I suggest you ask your recruiter and make sure they file PP. It is always advisable to start after approval. It's too big of a risk to start on receipt given the current visa environment
If 2-4 weeks includes LCA that's not too bad I guess. Yeah with all the RFEs and denials going on I'm definitely going to wait for approval. I'm willing to pay for PP myself if I have to (if that's even an option) Thanks for the info!
