Microsoft Base: 112.5k RSU: 70k (3.5 years) Sign on: 20k 20% bonus AWS Base: 129k RSU: 96k Sign on: 37.5k Haven’t even begun negotiations with Microsoft but damn why did they lowball me this much?? #tech #msft #microsoft #AWS #Amazon #Google #facebook #meta #oci #Netflix
Microsoft 20% bonus is bull crap. That’s the max bonus and would be a miracle to get that in your first year. Also, from my personal experience, never start low, hikes and rises with internal promo in any company sucks
The MSFT bonus won’t be 20% unless you are an absolute rock star. Assume 10%.
Agree. I joined thinking the max bonus was a given but completely wrong. Recruiters often do not know the pay structure for bonuses oddly.
My mom says I’m a rockstar and I got 12% and that was the top for anyone on my team RIP
It’s a new grad offer, how much do you want, $1m? For context: SWEs make less than that with a decade of experience in parts of the US.
thats on them lmao
Which MSFT team?
Don’t know yet
Microsoft just for peace of mind... I know aws pips is really high for fresh grad
I joined msft as a newGrad in 2020. Base 118, stocks 150k, 50k sign on across 2 years. I had aws counter offer as well and was able to negotiate level 60 as I had some experience. Negotiate with msft!
Thank you! Will do!
You are not going to get 20% bonus. 10% is most likely. 20% bonus is a recruiter tactic to get you to accept the offer.
Is the 20% bonus in MS guaranteed? Is that Amazon sign-on only for the 1st year or for both? If yes to both, there is hardly a difference of $5k/yr over the next 4 years, not considering stock appreciation. Microsoft might give some refreshers as well. So there isn’t much of a difference in the two offers. I would prefer MS over AWS even for $10k/yr. What am I missing?
20% isn’t guaranteed. Sign on for AWS is for first year.
AWS 96k RSU over 4 years?
Amazon’s vesting policy is 5 15 40 40

Cleared Amazon onsite, but lowballed.
Microsoft doesn’t sound like a lowball at all. That’s the typical pay for new grad
That honestly seems pretty good for them.
No it’s not. Standard Microsoft offer for new grad is 120 stock and 25 signing. 70 stock and 20 signing is a lowball usually given if you did very borderline on the interviews
