Just watched the highlights and great jobs guys. Lots of interesting stuff in iot, ml and hololens. Hopefully some of these will see day light soon. Work cutout for Google tomorrow π.
Tbh, no matter what happens at Google's IO, it'll generate more buzz than Build since Google is more consumer oriented than Microsoft. Android P, Google Assistant, Daydream VR, and even WearOS are more interesting to talk about than an Enterprise suite of products. That said, the DJI partnership, Azure based Kinect, ML.NET, AI-based improvements to meetings, and especially Microsoft Graph, sounded pretty exciting, and (at least to me) the roadmap looks more promising than Google's.
It's interesting and surprising these are the same week, even though the keynotes are on different days. Which company scheduled second & said FU to the first company?

Lack of diversity in engineering division at X
You must have watched a different conference keynote than many of us did - I thought the announcements and demos were pedestrian, but to be fair itβs an βoffβ year with focus on IOT and AI which arenβt generally as flashy (and specific to a customer).
Well the cool thing is almost everything that was announced today was available to use today (or at least in public demo). It might not be as flashy as some other conference that show case the future, but it was interesting nevertheless and probably more useful than the alternative.
Yeah, coz that meeting demo was totally not fake :) yes, the underlying tech exists, but itβs no-where that good (yet) and the scenario just sucked IMO. Iβm sure that some energy companies loved the IOT demos, but the rest of it was kinda forgettable. Weβll see how JoeB does today - heβs a much better presenter as well, and will be more consumer-based (which most of those devs at //Build are)
