How is Microsoft health insurance plan? Does it offer Kaiser HMO? If not how economical are other plans? Interview went well, expecting offer soon.
Family of 4 on ppo about $800/month plus $8,000 out of pocket prior to hitting 100% coverage. Microsoft prefers young healthy single or married no kids employees.
If you don't have a lot of doctor visit go with Premera high deductible plan. $1500 deductible max out of pocket $2500 for single. Microsoft puts $1000 to your HSA every year. Premera has bigger network and covers more drugs. For basic health care services, use on campus clinic for cheaper doctor visits and prescription. This is Redmond main campus
People not used to high deductible HSA plans tend to freak out at first, but if you crunch the numbers it's pretty competitive.
Vs. the free zero cost zero co-pay benefits they took from us?
How are ppo deductions per pay check considering family of 2(me, my wife and no kids) in Seattle. How much is deductible/copay for doctor visit (in campus) as well as outside
That will be so minimal in Seattle it should not be a deciding factor in accepting a role. Less than $300/month.
If you are in the Redmond area, pay check deductions are always $0 for the entire family, if your spouse does not have an employer sponsored health insurance. If your spouse is offered health insurance by their employer and declines it, then you are charged $150 per month by Microsoft to have your spouse on your insurance.
Deductible and copay depends on the plan you chose. Higher out of pocket maximums for the Premera(high deductible plan) and nominal copay for kaiser hmo.
Health, vision and dental insurance is free for the employee. Microsoft pays the entire premium(no paycheck deductions). Yes they offer kaiser hmo as an option.
Thanks a lot!
