Anyone know when this is expected to end? I was dropped during scheduling an on-site, and from an HM phone screen within the same week. This is frustrating; I really want to move to MS. Been at Amazon almost 7 years and am ready to try something new.
Fuck msft. How do you survive 7 years at amazon? Ur a god
My first 5 years was fine. I never understood why Amazon had such a bad rep...until now, haha. I'm at AWS, which is real pressure, lots of hours. Rather than find a more normal team at Amazon, I'm ready to go out and get a fat pay bump. AWS is rough, but I learned a metric fuckton in these 2 years.
there are even ppl who survived 20 yrs here
Sadly there's been nothing distributed internally and according to Blind (read into that what you will) there are some groups still hiring. Some rumors going around say July....but my guess is closer to fall.
Thanks! July would be awesome, but I could understand it would be later. I haven't transferred internally because I'm holding out for Microsoft.
Good luck! There might be some roles still avalible if you're open about what team...but I know the broader org that I'm in is basically hiring a very very tiny amount so not sure if that's just Blind making it seem like it's more than there is.
? I'm starting next week at MS
Most hiring was put on pause when covid picked up in the US with a very small number of roles allowed to go ahead with opening a position.... It's org dependant on how much.
I have a question: AWS demands a lot, Is your pay more in AWS in comparison to other teams?
Definitely not. There absolutely should be. AWS brand is extremely meaningful, so the services that it runs have to be really fucking good. 4 or 5 nines of availability services. HR even knows about the difference (intense hours) between AWS and non-AWS.
I had a referral receive offers from 2 teams this week. Another one had 2 onsites this week
Fiscal year starts July and is usually at least a month till new reqs are opened. My guess is August or September
7 yrs? You must have made a ton of money. Which level are you at A and which level are you interviewing at M?
7 years at AMZN, youβre a hero
Lol. It's all about which teams you're on. I got lucky the first 5 years. I'm currently on one of those teams where there's more pressure, and everyone works like, 50-60 hour weeks.
