Current role - great tech stack (python, node, go, aws), great wlb, nice team, good work (apis/web-apps), below avg comp Microsoft offer - non azure, internal tools (.NET core with possible use of other stacks), not very excited about the work, ~50% comp increase Same location Curr TC: 165K Offered: 220K
Don’t do a career suicide by accepting an internal tools offer.
Explain?
Lol
All so called “prestige” orgs have their internal tools….are you saying dont join them ever?
Why would you ever work on an internal tools team? What are the pros?
Bro… i meant every team within the large orgs have to use internal proprietary technology…not referring to Internal tooling team per se
Exactly in the same situation. Following. Python tech stack is really good for future proofing. Not sure why ms mandatorily uses .net and C#
Working on dotnet is very different from working with. It’s a different league
Only go to ms if you want to rest and vest, but if you are someone who wants to work on good tech stack and open source tools, dont even think of it, you will enjoy it initially the good pay and brand name but it will soon fade away Talking from my personal experience, i was working on go, java, python and other open source stuff had high impact but made a move to MS for the same reasons as mentioned and i regret it
Accept and keep looking? Why do u Wana do that? If u accept and reject later, won't they blacklist u
It's very easy to switch teams in msft. You can easily move after 6 months.
Engineers do move from internal tools to product groups. It's totally possible, but you will have to wait for an year or two and interview again internally.
