i have 2 new grad offers. Adobe Bay Area Base: 132 stock: 135 bonus:20 Microsoft Redmond Level 60 Base: 118 stock: 130 bonus: 40 Is there any scope of negotiation in MSFT offer? which offer should I choose and why?
Also how the f do you have an adobe offer if you’re already in Adobe ?
I was intern at adobe
I would pick microsoft
MS , but Redmond is different. Single or family to move with?
Single. My fiancé is in Bay Area.
Chances are, it’ll depend on what your fiance decides. The MS offer isnt strong enough to swing the tides. But dual income in Bay Area would be. Adobe is a good company, I know people there that’s been there for 10+ years. Adobe is in right place at the right market. Now if MS pushes up TC to same as Adobe, and you’re in Redmond.....
Microsoft. Lot of products to move around in. Cheaper place to live and save. Mountains, trees, water, snow, rain, fall.. It is a whole some place to live in.
I would push for Microsoft in Bay area
MSFT offer is much, much higher. Just the lack of income tax alone makes MSFT better not even taking into account COL differences.
At least 35-40% difference. Though real estate prices have gone up but they are nowhere as crazy as Bay area. A 2000+ single family built in 2000s with less than 30 min commute to Microsoft can be had for ~1M. Try getting that in the Bay area.
Is there any scope of negotiation in the MSFT offer?
Your base is pretty good for an L60. Stocks are always the easiest to negotiate on. Remember, you will be eligible for a target of 10% of your base as stocks and cash bonus each as annual review. If you join this year, expect something in Sept next year. All said, I'd concentrate on knowing what team you'd be joining. The difference in pay seems negligible.
I will be joining Azure Compute team.
Microsoft. Good pay, good wlb and good benefits.
Yoe? Level?
