Which one would be a better experience?
I would kill for either haha
Same. Why am I such a moron, I’m struggling with easy DP problems
Dude, me too. And recursive and some game theory. Shoot, I'm not even sure what game theory is! But we got this dood! Just gotta practice them, and then we will see each other at either one and be like... bam! We made it! Haha
Google! Because you will always be able to get a FTE role at MSFT, but getting that at Google (without internship) is much harder. Also, one week of working at Google is worth five years of working at MSFT, in terms of career development & brand name on your CV.
I disagree with this as a general statement. Google culture is not consistent -- there are most teams where you'll not enjoy working, and a few that are great. Same with Microsoft -- there are many "companies within company" at such large organizations. If you have a chance, talk to managers in both team to get a sense of what they're doing. Pick one that is closer to what you'll enjoy working on.
^agreed. From the outside looking in, there appear to be a lot more interesting organizations at Google in comparison to msft. MSFT is also classically slow to do anything at. Many software companies take time to get started and making real impact. MSFT makes an art out of drawing out a cold start. Judging on the fact that many teams still operate on a lot of legacy tools and processes, I'm guessing many others have the same experience. I think there's just a higher probability of finding a good team at Google.
Sorry for sounding like a dick, but Google looks way better on the resume. Some companies don't look twice at a ms experience
I interned at both. Like said here, your experience will highly depend on your team. I personally didn’t like my experience at Google but that’s 100% because of my team. What’s more important to you - getting a return offer or just the experience? If you want to secure an offer, then go with Msft. I don’t know a single intern who didn’t get a return offer. If not, then make a decision based on your team at Google, chances are that you’d learn more there.
Plenty of interns don't get an offer... At least ones over in ai&r
Just curious what is different between the two companies to make people say they would learn more at Google. I've managed multiple interns who have had a previous internship at Google and claim to have had a better internship at MS. Not sure I've ever asked where they learned more.
MS not using as much open source stuff and dev platform is trash compared to Google's. Interned at both and had a much better experience at MS though. Team at Google was too high on prestige and too low on skills + my mentor treated me like a piece of shit that is sticking on his shoes.
Screw both of them do a startup as your internship
Microsoft interns get perks (IMO is better than Google's )
For what it's worth it seems Google is not converting nearly the same % of interns they used to. Microsoft still converts a huge % of interns.
Google was never very keen on converting interns
Although I disagree with this, it should be noted that Google's intern conversion process requires you to do interviews and go through the hiring committee again, even after you were already hired as an intern
Microsoft internship requires (at least with any intern I've had) for you to get an offer from a team after your internship as well..

Enraged that kids prefer KPop to Bollywood. Installed cams in their rooms.
Microsoft internship has much higher return rate, while Google has much better reputation.
This. Also, you will probably learn more at Google
Microsoft treats its interns spectacularly
