Microsoft salary drop after cliff year.

i am considering Microsoft Azure offer for L62. i am looking to stay long-term (6-8 years) and build a strong technical foundation. Microsoft offered 150 base, 150k stock, 50k bonus. What is the salary drop i can expect after cliff year considering i might be promoted to l64 in 4 years ? YOE - 4 Current tc - 190k i have one more offer from FANG’s in bay area. i don’t want to move there.

Where is the other offer from and what it is? I wouldn’t assume moving to 64 within 4 years. Ex Microsoft here

So what will be the salary on the fifth year. Base increase plus 30k-50k ?

boomerang after a year or whenever bonus vests

You have got a solid offer from MS assuming the location is Seattle.

Location is Seattle.

I only lol when ppl say they gonna stay 6-8 yrs. now if there is a real shitty cliff, would you live up your own words?

Why would you stay for so long in one company? It is easier to move up the ladder by hoping every 4 years than trying to get promoted.

I work in systems. I have seen good projects going to people who have been working on the product for more than 3-4 years. Quality of work matters to me a lot.

You'd be looking at a base of close to 175k, 15% target bonus, and 24k vesting stock at 64 each year. That's a target comp of 230k. Most good 64s I know make closer to 250-270k though.

Lol new grad level 59s get 150 stock 50 bonus

I think 50K bonus is the maximum possible you can get, but you’ll actually get ~25K, no?

Microsoft Cringe! Sep 21, 2019

That's incorrect. I got 120k joining bonus over 2 years. Cash merit bonus scales based on base salary. For 64, the max is 30% of base salary. Target is 15%.
