This post is more of a rant :/ I worked at Amazon for couple of yrs before deciding to move to Microsoft. The only reason for me to do it was just change. I started my career at Amazon and never looked outside of it. Now, been in Microsoft for over a month I have come to realisation of my horrible mistake. Microsoft feels ancient in every aspect. The developer tools sucks and I can't even look at windows. On top of that, there's this culture bullshit. The amount of crap over D&I here is astounding. The more I think of it the more it makes sense that because their work sucks so they have these bullshit culture. Amazonian have good work and innovating product. They don't have time to deal with this culture bullshit. Hence, such issues are comparatively less. Moving on, I'm already in process with other companies to get the hell out of this place. Amazonian don't join Microsoft.
Are you going through 🍌 withdrawal?
Bullshit culture? You just seem like a hateful person.
Nah! I'm just a sadist narcissist gay guy who loves dark humor. I hope that's ok with you. Cuz, guess what i don't give shit about your approval.
I didn’t ask for your approval tho
Diversity and inclusion!!!!
I'm gay and believe it or not but i don't want to be in a company on basis of my sexuality. I go for merit than anything else. This whole D&I chapter is just to prevent corps from getting sued.
Come to salesforce
Wonder how you guys openly rant on Blind where is it really blind
Op what companies are you looking forward to?
One month is too quick to pass judgement on a company. I've been there for some time as well. Azure is much better and stable than aws. Aws has been in market longer and has bigger contracts, but azure is catching up fast. Their IDE is top class for .Net development. Their culture is friendly and helpful. Not toxic. Your promotion is not based on 14 leadership principles but how much you contribute to success of others and how you allow others to contribute to yours. I loved it. Got promoted twice without even writing promo docs or begging my manager for it.
I'm in Azure. Honestly, if someone is joining a company for culture over work then it's just stupid. A company can't generate revenue by saying we have amazing culture. It's the product that brings the bucks. Amazon understood this and is still innovating wherever possible. Microsoft is just catching up in every domain. I joined because I wanted to work in cloud domain but after joining realised the work is not that great. And, my team always talks about AWS and what they're doing. I don't remember such conversation while working at Amazon. They're customer obsessed rather than worrying about competitor.
You can switch teams. Not every team innovates or operates the same way. I've worked in azure as well. I don't remember us obsessing over aws.
I love these rants. People who are like three companies suck. I have been trying to get into them for 6 years. I will gladly take your job and happily work there so I can learn from other smart and expert people. ( Coming from a person who works at a mid west company where I'm the only software engineer and I have to push and develop my own tools and do everything from the ground up. ) But hey good luck!
You must be very empathetic with your spouse.
I have an amazing SO and we get along great. But that does not have anything to do with someone ranting about how unfair and "rough" working at big tech is. Anyways they are welcome to complain but just remember there are people who want to work there and are trying hard every day to get in.
Elaborate on this D&I thing...
Not just D&I but a career lesson that no profit making corporate cares about you unless they have some share in the pie. Hence, this whole D&I is a blanket to prevent them in case of fire like an employee reporting discrimination. Then, they can simply put the employee on the path of retaliation. Google did that to employees who participated in the walk out. So, does every other companies.

Sure, enjoy working with outdated technologies. There's this webpage on Azure which says why Azure is better than AWS? It says we offer windows server 5x cheaper. Now, how many enterprises even use windows these days? Growth mindset shouldn't be on walls but in every discussion and decision.
