There is a lot of talk going around that Microsoft is potentially looking to acquire Veritas. The news, if true, makes sense for both parties as Carlyle has been working to position a sale or IPO to recoup its substantial position in Veritas and Microsoft seeks to bolster its data protection position and leverage the newer data management IP Veritas has recently developed to better compete with the likes of Amazon and Dell in that space.
I cannot imagine this being the case... there's much more money for Carlyle and Veritas to be made with IPO.
No please. Many companies spead rumours like this to boost employee morale or in this case for Ipo.
It's unlikely that Microsoft would value Veritas high enough for Carlyle to bite. More likely is Carlyle stays the course and takes Veritas to IPO to recoup its investment.
Not gonna happen. Ex Veritas employee here. See what the merger with Symantec did and where they landed up. SNAFU^10000
Water cooler talk, won't happen! Too much work would have to go into development to make it applicable for Microsoft stategy.
Newer data management IP sounds marketing BS.
Microsoft should rather buy companies like Akamai and get more hosting / cloud market share
Not going to happen ....
it's rumored that the first week of November 2018, that there will be an announcement regarding the future of Veritas on a more permanent basis.
You folks at Veritas get passed around a lot
