Hard to decide.

Microsoft:
Higher return rate, Bigger name, beautiful environment, good wlb, it’s swe role for hardware team like surface, for which I feel neutral.
But exactly are interns happy at MS? Exactly what’s the conversion rate?

Verily:
Google/alphabet company, so basically this is a google intern chance. and I do think they are promising to change the world; also mostly their interns came from MIT or Stanford, feels very elite.

However, Verily is, after all, not google; I’m doubting if this name will be more beneficial than Microsoft on my resume. Also they are very mysterious with no info about intern return, and seems google system intern convention rate is very low.

Thx!

Go with some internship project you feel very passionate about! Also ask about your hiring manager or even mentor to see if you can get good coaching throughout the program.

Microsoft has one of the best, most fun internship programs of all tech companies. Seattle is an amazing city during the summer also. Google brand stamp on your resume is super valuable though and will make getting future internships/jobs easier.

Yes I also heard MS has the best intern program. Also, do you think Verily can really bring me the Google brand stamp to my resume? Because most people/HR never heard Verily.....

That's a good point on Verily name recognition. There are probably some things you can do to make it more clear on your resume (list as "Alphabet" or "Verily, an Alphabet company"). It really is a tough choice, but either way both will be great internships and valuable brands to have on your resume (especially with Amazon already on there). I interned Google and have been full time Microsoft and Google and I like Google more.

  • Conversion rate at Microsoft is very high, obviously higher than at Google.
Yes, interns are happy at Microsoft. You get great benefits, good pay and an infinite stream of social events you can attend. It's a lot of fun.
But if you interned at Amazon and have these two offers, don't make the conversion rate your main decision factor. You'll probably get a return offer anyway. You can always apply for a new grad position as well.
