I see a shit ton of West coast top 5 employer posts here. My question is really around the Midwest penetration testing/systems security engineering (embedded side) compensation. Would love to hear where everyone is at and what the environment is like for our world.

Yeah that's not true.. cost of living is better, and schools are better. There's a lot of benefits to living here, especially for a family. But I didn't post my question to talk about this, I wanted to see what average compensation was for the security field.
Take 30% off your west coast salary. You’ll still be doing relatively well - it’s a niche industry. Cost of living is lower.
