Leave within 3 months and don’t put it on your resume.

LinkedIn loki⛄️🩸 OP Jun 23, 2021

Too late for leaving before 3 months

Cisco mAwg00 Jun 23, 2021

Covid is probably the best time in recent memory to have a short gap on your resume

Google d-ll-b Jun 23, 2021

What do you mean by option to rehire, at the company you are trying to leave or the company you left to join this one?

LinkedIn loki⛄️🩸 OP Jun 23, 2021

Rehire at the current company. Wanna keep my options open just in case

Google d-ll-b Jun 23, 2021

I’m pretty sure if you leave a company in few months of joining you would be in some kind of negative situation with the company as a whole, and they might not take your resume next time. But of course that’s not a hard and fast rule that is followed by all companies everywhere so maybe there’s exceptions

Microsoft oytfnbvg Jun 23, 2021

0 just leave. As long as you haven't left your previous jobs less than a year too

Juniper stere0type Jun 28, 2021

What if someone has left the previous job within a year and in the current situation as described by OP? What would you advice then? Because sometimes you take bad decisions and shit happens.

Pure Storage PSTG^ Jun 28, 2021

@Juniper if it happens twice in a row then you are a job hopper. You can’t attribute it to “shit happens”

Uber frans123 Jun 23, 2021

how long are you in the current organisation ? Generally it dosent matter as long as its not a trend.

LinkedIn loki⛄️🩸 OP Jun 23, 2021

Not a trend. Spent considerable time in previous company. Have been in current company for a little more than a quarter

Amazon shitp0ster Jun 28, 2021

If you've worked for a significant time in the previous company than it wouldn't he as much as a red flag. I would just be honest on why it's not a good fit In upcoming interviews. The issue is when you leave jobs too quickly say every 12-18 montha

LinkedIn Chonc Jun 23, 2021

Depends on how bad it is. If the job is taking a significant toll on your physical or mental health, leave ASAP.

Google jcRBk5 Jun 28, 2021

If you want to be rehired, more than a year. But otherwise, you can leave whenever and it’s not a huge red flag as long as you don’t do it a ton and have a good reason when future potential employers ask. At least in my experience — I have two short stints back to back on my resume but I have a good reason (that I say in a very polite way when asked, don’t want to seem like you’re bashing prior employers) and it’s never been an issue.

What do you say

Curious too

Facebook BBBKLFTY Jun 28, 2021

I once quit after 3 months. I hated the job, and saw no reason to continue. That said, I never planned to return. If you’re really considering leaving after a short time, why do you think you’d ever want to return?

LinkedIn beowc Jun 28, 2021

Wanna keep my options open for just in case

Walmart vilanelle Jun 28, 2021

Staying too long could be costly for your health and hence career prospects. If you keep it on the resume - you can have a good story to tell on how you worked through a difficult situation, didn’t burn bridges but persevered. If you omit if from the resume, no one will question the gap during covid years.

Left 2 companies under 6 months. Life is too short to be miserable. There is so many tech companies so I won’t worry.
