Had virtual onsite for the E5 loop. Although recruiter wanted me to do E4, I opted to be put in for the E5.
Under NDA. Won’t share questions. But here’s the experience.
Round 1 coding
- Q1 LC medium. derived space/time optimal solution no help needed.
- Q2 lC medium/hard: explained time optimal solution using some space. Interviewer wanted no extra space use. Got some hints. In the end implemented my initial idea. Time optimal. Space not optimal. O(n) time O(n) space.
Round 2 coding
- Q1 LC medium. Derived optimal with minor help in the recursion.
- Q2. LC medium. Derived optimal no help needed.
Round 3 sys design
- designed something to satisfy the requirement. I was able to do it because of college class I took years ago. felt like didn’t go into full details. Couldn’t cover many trade offs. Knew the idea but no time to discuss details. Seriously how do you guys do it all in 30 mins? Could have done better.
Round 4 behavioral
- answered all. Most using star method. ~10 questions, for 1 I think I was batting bush and he had to intervene and redirect. Overall I was fluent. Didn’t face loss of words. I think it was ok. Probably didn’t show E5 team lead level examples.
Round 5 sys design
- this one went well. Got straight to point. Completed what was needed. Interviewer said they liked the approach. Ran out of time again. Would have added more details since I knew it because it’s related to my current work anyway. Overall okay.
What are my chances? 🤔
I’ll update with outcome when I find out. Make sure to follow this thread and ✌️. I’ll also share my prep work routine if I get offer (not just FB, I have other interviews too)

I can explain how heap works and why Dijkastra fails in some cases and all the algorithmic stuff. But I won’t be able to solve trick questions in 20 mins. I just don’t see a point in them.
Never know though... things are always a little unpredictable with interviewing/hiring.
