I am an IT auditor in the Bay area, 2.5 yrs in the job, making around $98k. I work for a CPA firm. I don't see myself doing this long term since it's mundane and compensation isn't attractive. I am quite driven and can learn/self-teach over weekends. Can someone please guide me as to how I can exit out and enter cyber sec /info sec to do tasks that are more interesting (technical) and compensation is attractive too?
There are lots of areas of Cyber Security - And many of them pay the same as Software Engineers if you land at FAANG or the like.
I always thought that being on the product side will always pay me more hence was thinking of getting into Symantec etc. What are these titles that you are talking about?
If the big company pay you good money. They will suck all the blood. End of the day one big question , do you need good life or good money. NB:- Work life balance in big companies is fantasy unless you’re top management guy.
Thanks for your response. My current job is also pretty darn hectic, tbh. So yes, ready to work longer hours for a good pay is doable.
