Hi all, I'm trying to compare offers between MongoDB & Google. YOE: 4 Google TC: 159 + 20% bonus + 193 / 3 = 247 L3 Mongo TC: 185 + 430 / 4 = 292 Cloud Google Pros: batch GC, big name. Cons: Downlevel Mongo Pros: impact, TC, atmosphere of the team looks good. Cons: 6 mo before kick off GC Currently prefer Mongo over Google, but kinda worry about the “Messy Middle management” & GC processing over there. Does anyone have some input on this? Thanks all! Quick update: got approved I-140 #engineering #h1b #perm #greencard
L3 with 4 yoe? Ouch
Yep. I've never thought to accept until I saw an interesting comments on Blind: "It's nice to get L4 payment while doing L3 work". Although 250k is not typical L4
I mean if you don't mind being in the same bucket as new grads and having to climb the job ladder from the bottom, that's fine.
Regardless of where you land push for the GC thing, sometimes a sympathetic manager can make that 6 mo thing disappear, sometimes an inefficient legal department can make 6 mo delay appear out of nowhere. I made the mistake of not staying on top of my GC process at it took a decade (EB3 didn't help obvi)
What did u hear about gc processing? And what level did u apply for at mongo?
It's SE 3, and I was kinda thinking about 1. 6 months waiting, 2. batching at Mongo could be a bit slower than big names. Am I right or wrong?
I also heard it’s 6 months’ wait. Forgot to ask if they pay for pp though
How was MongoDB interview?
It's pretty good! Everyone is super friendly!
Agree with Bloomberg. I met my favorite team members and diversity.
Is the Google offer best and final?
Looks like so
No sign on? And Is this for NYC? I thought L3's bonus is 15 percent
I think it's generally easier to move up here at mongo from se3 to senior. With g you have to grind additional level.
A big consideration is how stock is vested. MongoDB is/was 25% cliff after 1 year, then 1/48th each month. Google is 33/33/22/12, and vesting starts at month 2. You'll get more faster at Google. MDB culture is having issues adjusting to its growth: staffed like a mid-level, operates like a startup, but not in a good way.

'Hindutva': The Radical Hindu Ideology That Seeks to 'Push Christianity Out of India’
If you are Indian and looking to permanently settle in US then optimize for company with least risk for GC.
Indian or not, prioritize I-140 is good if want long term future in US. However, I did see some posts about some Googlers struggling with PERM but IDK if that is fake news.
