People voting $2k (currently top of poll) think that someone taking care of two babies deserves $24k a year?? You people making 500k TC and want the people you "employ" to be on food stamps. You're disgusting

I mean you can continue to have loud opinions or you can sit down and do the math… that said, in my area, part time Nannie’s have an average monthly cost of ~3500, so finding even a live in one for 3000 is probably not happening unless they have 0 experience.

I know people who get this with an au pair - college student from another country gets room and board and watches your kids. I know several people who spent a year in England and France this way after college. This is usually 20k per year, room and board, food, usually they have an extra car too for the au pair. I nannied for a family who typically had an au pair but were looking for a local nanny for the summer, when i was in college and they offered me the extra room, car etc, but I had my own apartment and car so I didn't want to live with them. But it's a good deal when you want to travel.

But if you think the of the cost of an extra room in SF or NYC, the price comes out the same as hiring a local nanny. But in Baltimore you can have a 3br house with under 1k mortgage

    We found one asking $32/hour. That’s about $64k a year ($5.3k a month).

    Is that a fair price?
