Housing will be cheaper by a lot. Culture is definitely different there, very East Coast hustle type. Ft. Lauderdale is basically the sensible version of Miami. Also: buy some floaters to keep in car, you'll need them in about 5 years time (ie: Do Not buy next to the ocean). If you do buy find out where the flood lines/hurricane zones are. There's basically a line drawn down the coast where insurance is 3x for a house on the east side of the line compared to the west. Enjoy the awesome Latin American food!
Culture shock: some crazy ass people in Florida ("florida man").
Well he’s coming from Washington state so he’s got plenty of experience with crazy people
I'd avoid: high crime, my son's mom grew up there and a lot of her friends were abducted/trafficked, and she had to hurt a couple people pretty severely to keep the gangs from coming after her. I lived in the worst parts of Everett and you couldn't pay me to live there lol
You are about to see races other than White/Indian/Asian.
Weird place. Everybody gives this look of pity when they hear you're from Seattle. They're convinced it's the best place on Earth but I found it to be a bunch of shitty strip malls on an (admittedly nice) beach. To each their own.
Cost of living is pretty low, and most decent meals won't cost you more than 9$.
You’re going to have to get used to this bright orb up in the sky, it’s literally a nuclear furnace
