I have an internship opportunity with Microsoft and have been assigned the Core Engineering Services group ( I am a master student) I have seen negative comments about the org as it used to be MS IT and am wondering if I join this group how difficult it is to move to a product team later on. Thank you TC 0 Yoe 2 years
You will be able to move internally. Please don’t let negativity from Blind make you feel bad about any place in Microsoft. Most employees who are happy and satisfied aren’t on blind bashing everything. This is just the loud few. I have friends MSIT that love it there, while theres friends in product teams who are miserable. Learn a lot and have fun. Congrats on your opportunity!
Thank you for your help!
Op can I dm you? In a similar situation like yours.

It would be pretty hard to move later. Internship may be ok but pass for full time.
Can you please tell me why it would be hard to move on? Do hiring managers of product team not prefer people from this org or is mobility in Microsoft in general a not very easy process
Don't believe anything you read on blind. While I cannot comment on the org since I am not a part of it, I can assure you that moving internally will be based on your internal interviews. The org will have little to no impact.
